All About Livin Freely and the Artist Behind the Shop

Hi, I’m Vanessa, the owner/creator behind Livin Freely.

Livin Freely was started from a desire to build a life centered around creativity. The brand is inspired by authentic living and artistic freedom, celebrating individuality through handmade, boho style jewelry. Each piece is thoughtfully created in my home studio in Hickory, North Carolina, and reflects my love for nature and the cosmos.

About me:

My love for crafting began at a young age. I used to spend hours with my mom doing different projects and learning the joy of making things by hand. I can remember getting jewelry kits filled with colorful beads and making countless friendship bracelets. At the time, that was the extent of my jewelry making skills.

Years later, I moved to Asheville, North Carolina. Being surrounded by such a inspiring community of artists gave me the push to take my creativity seriously. At the same time, I was feeling super burnt out from my job waiting tables and craving something more fulfilling. That’s when I decided to open my Etsy shop.

I taught myself everything I could about making jewelry through YouTube videos and lots of trial and error. I spent hours searching for unique, high quality charms / pendants, gemstones, and chains, carefully selecting components that felt special and lasting.

After more than 13 years, I’ve grown a ton as an artist and business owner, but I’m always learning and trying to expand my craft further. I hope to one day take a metalsmithing class and eventually get a laser engraver that would allow me to customize some pieces. 

Livin Freely has become so much more than just a jewelry brand to me. It’s a reflection of my journey and growth. Thanks for being here and being a part of my story.
